Spring Break 2009 and Summer Vacation are a
superb chance to get away and do a work for the Church! Not only does BMP have a superb project, for 2009 we will
be centrally located in Belize City, with easy access to the Belize Cayes and the Maya Mountains. Remember too, that there is also easy border crossing with Guatemala, Honduras, and Mexico. In the Belizean school system, the “Upper School” is the last chance for students to obtain an assured education; after upper school, there are no guarantees. Arrangements have been made with school officials of the Wesley Upper School for summer-long pressure wash, painting and general upkeep. This 50 year-old facility is in the heart of Belize City, and due to economic conditions has endured years of deferred maintenance.
Qualified, “called” students will be asked to work directly with church and school officials, in performing easy but critical tasks, to assist this important facility in its mission, to help young high-school age kids stay in school! Most importantly, since school in Belize runs until June 30, there will be plenty of opportunity for qualified mission students to work directly with the target student group, making for a fantastic mission experience. Accommodations will be at a safe, comfortable (AC!) yet affordable guest house nearby, the Hotel Mopan, which has been used by church teams for many years. www.hotelmopan.com. There are limited rooms available for this project, as other church groups come and go all summer long, especially in May, June, and July.
